Postgraduate Diploma in Herbal Medicine

The Postgraduate Diploma in Herbal Medicine is an advanced-level naturopathy course designed to provide students with both scientific knowledge and practical understanding of medicinal plants.

This programme empowers candidates to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and modern science, preparing them to engage with diverse audiences and apply herbal knowledge in clinical or research settings.

Programme Duration: 10 months
• Two semesters of coursework
• Four-month compulsory internship

Upon completion, graduates may choose to practice herbalism professionally or pursue further studies at the Master's or PhD level where applicable.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL UNIMED POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

A candidate must have O’ Level Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics, plus three other relevant subjects in WAEC, NECO, GCE or equivalent.

a. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
• Graduates of UNIMED or other recognized universities in relevant areas.
• HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant disciplines.

b. Master’s Degree
• Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second Class Honours in relevant fields.
• Third-Class or HND holders with PGD (minimum CGPA of 3.50 or Upper Credit).
• PGD/PGDE holders must also meet basic O’ Level entry requirements.

c. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
• Master’s Degree with a minimum weighted average of 60% from a recognized university.

• Completed application form
• Degree/Diploma certificates
• Academic transcripts
• Three reference letters
• 500-word statement of intent
• NYSC certificate (for Nigerian citizens)
• Transcripts must be sent directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate School via post and email: secpgs@unimed.edu.ng
• Include your email and phone number when applying.

Eligible candidates should log on to the University website: www.unimed.edu.ng

Then, take the following steps:

1. Click on Admission
2. Click on Postgraduate School
3. Candidates will be directed to https://www.spgs.unimed.edu.ng/
4. Click on Student's Portal
5. Click on PAYMENT and pay using VISA or MASTER card (Note: VERVE card is not allowed)
6. Print your payment receipt
7. Click on APPLICATION LOGIN via SPGS Portal using your Transaction ID as password
